Training DVD Workshop for 3ds Max Training DVD Workshop 1
The Venerable Dreadnought
For 3ds Max 9, 2008,2009
A two DVD, 58 Part full video and audio video tutorial learning set from masters of hard surface modelling, 3d-palace.com.
Training DVD Workshop 1 is a brand new 3d-palace DVD training set from 3d-palace that will teach you everything you could ever want to know about hard surface mechanical modelling, suitable for use in film, visualisation, commercial advertising and more. Using this set as an end to end tutorial you will learn how to create a large mechanical animated and textured piece that utilises cloth dynamics, hose dynamics, IK rigs with constraints and limits, controller objects and much more - you will then go on to animate the piece in a lit environment, even going as far as to use particles and plugins to create realistic weapon effects such as flamethrowers and heat rays.
Forget those other tutorials that show you a part of the whole or which skip the important parts - TDW1 has it all. Want to use this as a reference? Thats good too - using our easy to navigate interface you can access the information you want - from setting up Pflow to building a globally illuminated lighting rig with final gather. This MASSIVE 54 part tutorial set even has live recorded sequences to show you how to sketch out and plan your mechanical build first!
NEVER has a tutorial gone so far as to take you through every single step of the way. Included in the set you will find every Max file, every reference file, every render and every dependant file. All you need is 3ds Max and, optionally, FumeFX and / or Afterburn ( www.turbosquid.com ) and you will be on your way! All rendering is done in Scanline or Mental Ray so you dont even need to worry about finding a secondary renderer - just load this DVD into your computer and get ready to learn from the very best hard surface modelling tutor there is.
Part 1
This set features the original tutorial "The Dreadnought 2" as its base - this 12 part set that was originally released in 2005 was a massively popular commercial tutorial in its own right - the end resulting model from this is then used as the original preperation model for the Venerable Dreadnought.
Part 2
In part two the Dreadnought is rigged and controllers are put in postition to allow precise movement. Sliders are added and IK is set up for limitation of movement to prevent foot slide and intersection of parts.
Part 3
In part 3 you are shown how to draw out and plan your mechanical weapon arm - this is an essential part of the build process to make sure that you will have a good range of movement and flexibility for the arm. Following this Max is loaded up and the entire arm is built including the shoulder and weapons, dynamic feedbelts and overdetailing. The arm is then rigged up and attached to the rest of the model. This includes creation of sliders to control finger movement and to facilitate better control.
Part 4
This section contains the building of the venerable high detailed chassis, focussing on detail work, application of tools for overdetailing,
ergonomics and design integration. The piece is topped with a banner pole and banner which has a dynamic cloth simulation applied to it. Animation is applied to the finished Dreadnought piece following which the cloth is simulated and checked.
Part 5
Particles are the focus with a flamethower system built in PFlow which is then rendered using Afterburn and then optionally FumeFX. Following this a second particle system for the second main weapon is created which is rendered in FumeFX as well.
Part 6
In part six all of the previous parts are bought together with final parts covering the lighting and rendering of the scene as well as tidying up the piece, adding an environment, building a banner decal in photoshop, unwrapping part of the model and building a map in photoshop that is then applied to demonstrate high poly unwrapping and finishing the model. The model is then rendered out.
